The meeting, which was attended by over 200 concerned local people was presented with an introduction to fracking and informed about the threat posed by fracking in light of Aurora’s plans and recent ‘scoping’ request (see previous post).

Current actions of Frack Free Formby include: public meetings, social media presence, weekly stall in the village, a petition with over 3,600 signatures, networking with local and national groups etc. Also presented were plans to attend Aurora’s forthcoming community engagement meeting, encourage objections to the planning application, lobby consultees, hold another public meeting in April and information about the newly formed group The Moss Alliance. The meeting was concluded with a very lively Q&A session.

Information was given about how everyone can help:

  • Signing up as a supporter
  • Offer to help with leafleting
  • Donate to the campaign
  • Lobby MPs and Councillors
  • Write to local papers
  • Express concerns to any involved banks and energy companies
